By mid-2007, I was well into The Months and quickly forgetting about The Days, the beginning of a passion that would last a good two or so years. I’d also finalized the designs for the 2007 incarnations of the famous twelve, which made a great opportunity to draw them out and release them into the open world to gain new fans in the form of my family and friends in Colombia (as I was living there at the time).
With this in mind, I designed this poster of the gang of twelve with all the glories that come with new characters. Most of them look pretty happy to be here – August especially, who is chilling out on a tropical island for the summer vacation! However, December seems to be acting the Scrooge because despite clearly being the season (or should I say “month”) of cheer, he doesn’t look all that joyful. My canon for this December was that his anger is due to being “cursed” to be at the end of the calendar year for all eternity. Based on that logic, you’d think the earlier months would be happier at being first and the later months bemoaning their lower ranks in the year… but just look at August, September, October and November, who are the eighth, ninth, tenth and eleventh months respectively!
As always, here’s the roster by row, from left to right:
- February (with groundhog)
- April (with Easter rabbit)
- December (who is obviously annoyed at being last)
