It’s been quite a long while since I last saw these kids – in fact, just before I jetted off to Canada. That wasn’t the first time I drew them, however – this is. And it also happens to be my first artwork of 2015! 🙆🏽
I often draw the province and territory characters of the IAmMatthewian Project (now Project Canada), but their city counterparts much less. This is because, unlike their provincial and territorial equivalents, there are no actual ‘fixed’ designs for cities – designs are made by the fans, and there can be several designs for just one city. (This is also unlike the Canadian Boys series of mine, where the characters are all designed by me, and have stayed pretty much intact despite a few changes over the years it’s been going.)
For this artwork, I stuck with the original IAMP versions of the city characters – since then, many new ones have been created for the Project Canada reboot. I prefer the IAMP ones, however, since I think they’re a lot more colourful and striking.

Fun fact – Calgary, Edmonton, Halifax and Dartmouth are the only city characters known to have ‘real’ names. Calgary’s is Calvin McCall, Edmonton’s is Edward Murphy, Halifax’s is Henry, and Dartmouth’s is Diana. Halifax and Dartmouth’s surnames have never been revealed.
As mentioned before, new versions of these city characters have been created for the Project Canada reboot, whose outfits are always changing and so don’t really have a static appearance.
