If you’re in the Steven Universe fandom, unless you’ve been living under a rock for the past year, a movie is coming up. First teased late last year, Steven Universe: The Movie was officially announced at the San Diego Comic-Con (SDCC) in July this year. It’s the first time the series has got a full-length movie since it started in 2013.

While details of the movie are not yet fully known, it’s been said that the story takes place two years after the final episode of season 5, Change Your Mind. Steven and the Crystal Gems – Garnet, Amethyst and Pearl – finally think they and the people of Beach City can live in peace, but a new villain comes to Earth – and it looks like they want revenge for something.

To celebrate the release of the movie, I’ve drawn this little bit of fan-art. You may have noticed a slight change in Steven’s outfit – his iconic red shirt with a yellow star is replaced with a pink college jacket and turquoise undershirt, still with the star. And he also seems to have grown up a little – he now has a neck! He still keeps his jeans and red sandals.

In the season 5 finale, the Crystal Gems were ‘regenerated’ (re-designed) for the third time in the show’s run, with their new forms seen above. Garnet now wears wedding rings, a throwback to Ruby and Sapphire‘s wedding, and her visor also changes to look more star-like. Amethyst looks more punky with her torn tank and jean shorts with flares, and Pearl now wears a dinner jacket with leggings and ballerina pumps. Some other fan-favourite characters – such as Lapis Lazuli, Peridot, and Steven’s father Greg – will also make an appearance, Lapis and Peridot in their new forms which were also revealed in Change Your Mind. Seems like Steven and Greg will spend some more quality father-son time together.

Steven Universe: The Movie will air on Cartoon Network at 6pm EST on September 2nd. In the meantime, you can see the trailer below – and get hyped:
